My ideas start on the page, in a notebook, a sketchpad, through conversation, in reckless moments and emotional reactions and sometimes in the most unexpected ways. Within these pages I will share the ideas that have the risk of becoming something bigger and part of a larger conversation with all of you. It is about our creative collective, human connection and honest expression.
It's about the process.
As a writer I have positioned myself behind lined paper, postcards, notepads, standardized test booklets, loose leaf, greeting cards, thank you notes, love letters and corners of notebooks in school. My writer self has always existed through literary artifacts presented in many forms such as slam poetry, impulsive imagery revealed in dialect, lyrics without melodies, stories turned rants and vivid visuals in a mind caught up in a constant daydream and gritty reflections.
As we grow up and discover our truths we can hit insecurities causing us to resist our intuition. It is in this resistance we lose ourselves; we can become obsessed with the expectations around success, relationships, careers, the status quo or the critique from the others…but my dudes and darlings its not about what they want! If I have learned anything so far it’s that they are not paying that close of attention. By biting into the bullet of greed, wealth and falsities around success we fore-go our artist and forsake the creator, ourselves. There is something so frighteningly beautiful about telling the truth, it sets us free. No really it does. Owning your truth is the purest thing you can do...real souls are rare in this world so live truthfully and practice it daily. Even if others look at you funny, question your authenticity and doubt your honesty, you can rest your head at night knowing you were as real as they come.
My intent is to set the ‘self’ free and guide you through your creative exploration as well.
Under 'The Blogger' you can find my organized stream of consciousness, single living in LA, discovering hilarity in the darkest moments, self awareness, raw emotions, strange interactions, literary exploration and creative detonation. The journalistic pieces will be spliced in with my personal stories, the culture that I want to create revolves around the news and events about people contributing towards global impact in their communities. These topics include: civic engagement, environmental issues, literature, theatre, art, science an music. I see the positive changes that are happening and continue to shift our perspective and my intent to to bring more light to these causes.
You can find the musical, artistic, linguistic and collaborative conversations under 'The Inquisitress' tab where you can read interviews, see photo shoots and intimate conversations and insights from the many faces and voices of Los Angeles and beyond. There are few boundaries and limitations to the people and ideas I will encounter.
Under 'The Designer' I have my current jewelry project, Shakti Roots: Prayer Beads for the Fashionably Divine. I will share with you creative art projects as they develop; opening these pages to reveal the facets of my expressive soul.
I am often listening to the sounds and absorbing the sights around me, fascinated with the human journey and excited about the conversations that light up my being. These pages are shrink wrapping our connection, allowing us to share and support one another from around the world, please feel open to commenting and expanding the conversation further. Our connectivity is undeniable, we are in this grand experiment together and I cant wait to be a part of your story.
